On Monday, March 11, 2019, Slamdance Cinema Club at ArcLight Hollywood will be screening Behind the Bullet at 8 P.M., followed by a Q & A with the filmmaker.  Behind the Bullet is a feature documentary directed and produced by Heidi Yewman. It is a stunning piece of filmmaking which examines the emotional, physical and psychological effects on a person who pulls the tigger of a gun, whether by accident, in self-defense or attempted suicide.  It’s a rare, sensitive, intelligent glimpse at the other side of the coin, and as such is an invaluable addition to the conversation about gun violence in the U.S.  This is really a must-see for every single American.

“With over 300 million guns in our country I’d like people to really think about what happens when someone uses one of them. What I’ve found in my research is there’s a pretty profound moral injury to taking a life, even if it’s completely justified. The NRA likes to talk about being a ‘good guy with a gun.’ Well, what does that feel like exactly? Behind the Bullet shows the impact of some the most common shooting situations.”–Heidi Yewman
