Modern Slave will make its festival world premiere at the LA Shorts International Film Festival on Thursday, July 26, 2018.  It will be screened along with 7 other selected shorts during the 9:55pm block at the Laemmle NoHo, located at 5240 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601.  LA Shorts will host Q & A s with the filmmakers following the evening’s program.

Modern Slave is a short narrative film about a young girl who is trapped in the commercial sex trade.  Dan Sima, co-writer and producer of the film, and Spencer Currie, co-writer and director of the project explore the paradox, “How can the cage door be open but someone still be trapped inside?”

This is a beautiful, well crafted film that explores the complex and destructive bond between a trafficking victim and her trafficker.
